The framers I go to is also a gallery and the staff were intrigued - none of them knew Alex's work, but they all wanted to know more.

When I took mine to the framer's, he looked at it and said "This isn't a poster." Well, no, and when I called him I never said it was. He assumed since I bought it through the internet that's what it was. I went with dark wood and claret and seafoam matting because my house is pretty traditional. I got it home last week and it's going to be the incentive for some painting and redecorating.
I do still have sticker shock from the framing cost though. That I wasn't expecting. :gasp:

Your framing choice sounds lovely, jmc. Double matting on a piece that size, along with a quality wood frame, couldn't have been cheap. But you've got something that you'll be able to enjoy for a long time -- hopefully, that makes it worthwhile.

Oh yes! The print colors look beautiful against the mats. It is real incentive to get the room ready.

The framer thought it was funny that I was redoing the room to show off the picture. People just don't 'get' Moonlight and the effect it has on otherwise fairly normal folk.

Well here it is, framed and hung:

And a close up of the frame I did such a poor job of describing:

That is BEAUTIFUL! Wow! I am so green with envy. I would have no problem with completely redoing a room for such a lovely work.

Gorgeous!! The frame is very similar to what I've been considering. I haven't wanted to rush, but I think my decision has been made now.

Your picture looks gorgeous, Red. Love the frame. The colors in that pic would go with my house, it's just I have nowhere to hang it. It's pretty large really. Yes, framing can be very expensive. I've never figured out why, though; it's just a scrap of wood, right? :snicker:

Yes, the framing was wince-inducingly expensive - but worth it. I just love it. And I'm blessed with very high ceilings so it fits in beautifully.

Wow, what a great frame for a great picture.
I would be content with a poster.

It's gorgeous Red! I love the matting too. The colors you chose are perfect and the double mat calls your eyes right to the print. The single wouldn't have been anywhere near as impressive. And you're only going to do this once so I'm glad you went for it and didn't do it cheaper. :hearts:

I fell in love with ebony wood a while ago and have been thinking of redecorating my office with an ebony desk and furniture. So I'll go with an ebony frame. Haven't done it yet but I will soon. :dracula:

Okay, I'm excited, because we FINALLY took my print in the other day to get framed. It's due to be finished on Nov. 2...I'll post pics, once I get it home.

I'm very excited! (oops, said that already. Well, it's true twice!)
