For anyone in the UK, Sky Sci-Fi/Horror (channel 309) is airing Outlander, starting right now!!!

I've never seen it, so this is a lovely surprise on a Sunday afternoon.

It just finished. I enjoyed it.

It has an awful lot of very common sci-fi themes: the monster that just won't die (very Predator-ish); the outsider who comes to the rescue, gradually winning acceptance from the locals; a dash of romance; culture clash; heroism in the face of impossible odds and men bonding through battle ( ) etc. etc.

But it was well-made, the cast were good, the battle scenes were pretty thrilling and anything with Ron Perlman AND John Hurt has to be worth a watch. Sophia was great and Jim Caviezel was a nicely tortured hero.

I agree about Ron Perlman....I bought the iPod edition of the 1st season of Sons of Anarchy, it's hard to see him age when I remember him as Vincent.

Sophia was a natural for the role, each scene seemed to show her totally "in her skin".

Jim Caviezel is just creepy to me... :chin: saw him in the JLo movie awhile back and I just can't scrape that off of him.

I was just going back over the comments made earlier which i missed at the time.

I thought it was great EXCEPT for Jim Caviezel. He seemed awfully wooden to me. It seems there's a very fine line between tortured and unemotional. Maybe it was just that I kept imagining Alex doing the role and it was a far superior movie in my head.

But all in all, I enjoyed it.

Sophia posted a picture of herself in Outlander on Twitter.
I asked her a question and she actually answered.

This movie is going to be on Syfy today at 6:30p Eastern time just about 45 minutes from now. If you haven't seen it, it's worth it.

I loved Outlander. And Jim? That's his acting style. He acts the same way in Person of Interest. I find myself liking him more every week. :yahoo:

Am home today from work and just got back from running some errands... turned on the TV and this is on SciFi right now (at least here in CA), in case anyone wants to watch. Just started at 3p. I haven't seen this one yet, so I'm gonna take a look. Only two stars on my on-screen guide, but I've seen some good ones at that rating (and some stinkers), so we'll see...

Ooh, so strange to see Sophia with darker hair, and she's speaking in her native tongue (*swoon*)!
