So sorry, everyone.

OK. How about this...Mick is sitting at a stakeout one night and has lots of time to think. We know he likes L.A., the weather and all, and doesn't want to relocate, but Josef has said that it is a part of vamp life. So, he is thinking about where he might go, what he would like to do, and possible new identities.

What are the top five occupations/identities/locations he came up with?

Oooh... this one's fun! Okay, I'll give it a shot.

1) New York - specifically the East Village. Trumpet player in a jazz combo. He wants to play The Vanguard.
2) Chicago - night watchman at the Chicago Tribune. (Beth got a job there and he wants to keep an eye on her.)
3) Toronto - entry-level job as a lab tech in the morgue. He's looking for a guy named Nick Knight... rumors are, he might have a line on a cure.
4) Paris - works nights as a cataloguer at the Louvre. (Family connections got him the job.)
5) Speyside, Scottish highlands - apprentice at the Macallan Distillery.

Ummmmm... okay... next one is: Give five possible scenarios for how Mick got his ring.

Oh allegrita, each of them would make a great fanfic challenge idea!!!

Okay, the ring.
1) Family heirloom of his mother's side, who is from New Orleans. He got it when his old parent's house was on sale.
2) Family heirloom of Coraline, she gave it to him after the wedding and he didn't have the heart to give it up because it reminds him of what a bad thing she did to him.
3) His first case involved a kidnapping of a child, the father gave the ring to him after the kid turned up dead, Mick blames himself and wears the ring as penance.
4) He saw the ring at Josef's, told him he liked it, and Josef gave it to him with an air of "nothing important" - albeit of course it's Josef's family heirloom and he's something like royalty
5) In the late 80s Mick decided to leave the disco grunge behind, changed his wardrobe and chose his jewellery to be more cool. I think it worked.

5 cars Mick would drive if he hadn't his Benz already.

1. A later model Merc. In black, because he just looks so fabulous in black (I think whatever car he would drive should be black)

2. A black Porche

3. A black Lambergini

4. A black Ferrari (yes, it's derivative, but Josef could clue him in on what accessories to get and which ones to avoid).

5. A black Prius--I know, but the mileage is so great!

Just a quick off-topic anecdote: My first car was a crappy little second-hand Renault 5. It had a bumper sticker that read:
"I wanted a Lamberghini but I didn't know how to spell it." :snicker:

OK.

Mick and Beth are trying to come up with something to get for Josef for his birthday. Josef has to list his birthday on something. Might be bogus, but it is a start. What were their top five prospective gifts for a vamp hedge fund trader who has almost everything?

Add that to the list of things that I obviously don't know either!

...let alone afford one :snicker:

1) Bigger tar pits
2) Fuzzy red dice for the Lamborghini
3) A new head of security (literally, he needs a new head... see #1)
4) A fresh batch of poker pals
5) The person or people responsible for "The List" and putting his name on it (see #1)

Next up: 5 post-Buzzwire alternate occupations for Beth (rather than working for Talbot :blecch: ).

1. Private Eye
2. Executive at Kostan Industries.
3. Opening a Donor Club (offering vampires warm refreshment but not from the human tap)
4. Guidance Counselor for human/vampire relations
5. Print journalist (much lower profile)

Next up 5 cities Josef lived in and what decade?

Somehow I can see her being really good at this. Oh wait, she can't figure out her own vamp/human relationship.... but then again, isn't that the case for most psychiatrists?

cassysj asked, 5 cities Josef lived in and what decade?

OK, let's start with the ones we know.

1. 1860's, New York. (That's where he met Coraline.)
2. 1950's, New York again. (That's where he fell in love with, and tried to turn, Sara.)

Now for the other three... hmm...

I don't believe he was in France during the Terror, but I can see him living there during the American Revolution. So I'll go with...

3. 1770's, Paris. Friend of Lafayette and Benjamin Franklin.

Now, going back... I can see him drawn to interesting times.
4. 1660's, London. He was there for the Great Fire and the Plague. (A bit of homage to librarian_7's wonderful fic set in this decade, Fire. I think she got it totally right.)
5. 1920's, Berlin. He would have loved Germany between the end of WWI and the rise of Hitler. But he would have left, with all his investments intact, before things got bad.

Next... Steve the Cameraman's five favorite news stories... and why.

Okay, that one was too esoteric...

Um... how about... Logan's five favorite songs?
