Rated PG-13 for mild language and violence.

SPOILERS: Follows on from all 16 episodes of ‘Moonlight’, as aired on CBS. Follows on from Allegrita’s FanFic, ‘Presto Agitato’, Ch 1 & 2. (Mick and Beth ‘sealed the deal’ and are now lovers.) Follows on from Desdemona’s FanFic, ‘Silver’, Ch 1 thru 7 only. (Talbot finds out about vampires in general, and Mick in particular, the hard way!) Ready? OK! Here we go again!

*************************************************

Josef set his cell phone down on the desk in front of him and leaned back in his chair. Very few people had his personal cell number…. Mick, Beth, Simone, the Lead Cleaner for the LA Tribe, his own head of security, Karl, Polly in New York, Guillermo, and a handful of others. Josef’s personal cell got through to him without interference from secretaries, etc…, and he always had it with him. Even in his ice box at home.

He had given his number to Guillermo for emergencies….vampire-related emergencies coming into the Morgue. Like tonight. He sighed and pivoted his large leather chair around to look out his office window. The night outside was deepening, but still young. He thought about Guillermo’s call…..a third vamp dead in five days. That thing was undoubtedly still out there, somewhere, and it would kill again. This third death stripped away any hope that the creature would move on quickly. It was clearly on a bender. The moon hadn’t even been full yet when the first victim was killed.

Josef was a natural leader, and he enjoyed power, but sometimes he wished someone else was holding the reins of their community. He was one of the oldest vampires in LA, but not the oldest. There were a few others who were quite a bit older than he, and some of them had led a local community in the past. Some of them had endured spectacular failures in their role as leader, and as a result, no longer had any desire to be in charge. They chose to live quietly, enjoying the wealth amassed over their long lives, and let someone else carry the burden of leadership.

Josef wondered if a spectacular failure of his own was approaching. Things had not been going well during the past few weeks, and it looked like things were about to get worse. First the horror of having to watch Jackson and Emma die. The vampire justice system at its most brutal……Mick wouldn’t let him look away. Why did his young friend have so much influence over him? Then Mick was attacked and nearly killed by a band of assassins, which turned out to be operatives of The Legion. Judging from the List that Talbot subsequently shared with them, it looked like The Legion was targeting LA for one of their “cullings”.

Torch bearing mobs were harder to come by these days, so it would be difficult for The Legion to accomplish the “culling” of LA’s vampire community the way they had during the French Revolution. But Josef had no doubt they had something in mind…..even if it was just picking them off one at a time. Like the way they had tried to kill Mick. Josef’s jaw clenched in anger at the thought of what they had put his young friend through…..bastards.

Now this…..a rogue wolf. He had wanted to avoid starting a panic, but between The Legion and the wolf, it was starting to look like a little panic might be a good thing. He had alerted the Lead Cleaner when the first slaughtered vamp was found, an obvious wolf kill, but so far, the Cleaners had had no luck tracking the brute. And, to be honest, the Lead Cleaner had made it clear she needed time to gather more numbers, and get some ‘bigger guns’, before she would be willing to risk her people in a head to head confrontation with the thing. She was also exploring some possible political solutions. That would all take time, time they clearly didn’t have to spare. So…..it was time for a community wide alert, about both problems. And it was time to bring Mick in on it.

Josef shook himself out of his ruminations and snapped his fingers. Immediately, every employee in the room closed out what he was working on and cleared out, filing quietly down the hall, leaving the hedge fund trader alone in his spacious penthouse office.

Josef picked up his cell phone again and dialed Mick’s cell. It rang several times before his friend picked up.

“Mick…..where are you?”, Josef asked without preamble. “At Beth’s? Good. I need to see both of you right away. Please come to my office ASAP buddy.” Josef paused, listening to Mick. Then he frowned. “Yes! It’s important and no it can’t wait!” He paused, listening to his friend again, then he rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair, staring at the mural on the ceiling. He smiled, in spite of the situation. Mick was trying to be gentlemanly and tactful in explaining his current circumstances, especially since Beth was undoubtedly right there listening. What was he going to do with the two of them?

“Listen Mick, you guys are just adorable, and I’m all for young love. I’m really happy for both of you…..but, here lately, the two of you are like a couple of bunny rabbits. Come up for air every once in awhile buddy…..seriously! Now, both of you take a cold shower, put on some clothes, and get down here!” He paused again and grinned. Mick was growling at him. “And actually, clothing is optional for Beth, but you, my friend, have to put something on!” His smile faded and his tone became serious. “And Mick….watch yourself. I know you’re already on red alert after The Legion’s little escapade….but really be careful. Stay in populated areas. I’ll explain when you get here.” He hung up.

After a few seconds, he dialed another number.

Logan glanced at the ringing phone in annoyance. He was busy….another fried hard drive…..then he noted the caller ID. Josef Kostan? The really, really rich guy?! He had met him only once, during the extraction of Emma from the Police Van. Logan tapped his Blue Toothe headset. “Hello?”

Josef smiled at the eagerness in the young vamp’s voice. He must have looked at his caller ID. “Logan? This is Josef Kostan. I require your services…..now.” Josef listened to the anything-you-need-sir reply from Logan and smiled again. Nice kid. “I’ll be needing you for an indeterminate period of time and I need to move you to a secure location. It’s not safe for you to remain in your parents’ basement right now.”

Horrified, Logan heard himself yelling into his headset, “I would NEVER hurt my mom and dad!”

Josef held the phone out away from his ear and winced at Logan’s shouting. OK….clearly the kid respected him, but was too young and sheltered to fear him. “Logan, calm down.” He said quietly, “That’s not what I meant. Of course you wouldn’t hurt your parents. But, we have a situation, and there’s a couple of…. things…. in LA right now that might hurt your parents…. trying to get to you.” He paused, letting his words sink in. The young vamp was very quiet on the other end of the line. “Your parents’ house is in a suburb….that’s dangerous right now. You’re an easy target out there, and if your parents got between you and either one of these threats, they would undoubtedly be killed. If you’re not there, your parents will be safe.”

Logan listened, dumbfounded. “What….what’s going on?”, he stammered.

Good, he had his attention now. “I can’t explain further over the phone. Pack a bag, just the essentials. I have all the computer equipment you’ll require where you’re going. I’m sending a car and driver for you. Tell your parents you’re going to visit friends for awhile.” Logan tried to ask more questions. “I’ll explain everything when I see you later, Logan. For now, just trust me. This is important.”

Josef hung up before Logan could babble more questions, and called Karl, his Head of Security. The 248 year old Slavic vampire was indispensable to Josef. Karl picked up promptly, as always, and Josef instructed him to go get Logan and take him to the mansion, gently and with courtesy. He didn’t want Karl to get the idea Logan was some kind of a prisoner….he was an important new employee. With Ryder still laying low in South America, Josef needed a computer specialist, and with Ryder gone, Logan was the best. He gave Karl the address and told him to get Logan settled in one of the vamp guest rooms upstairs at the mansion.

After hanging up again, Josef considered the idea that he might be a pretty easy target for the wolf himself, out at his mansion in the hills overlooking LA. But, the thing appeared to be keeping to the city. All of the kills had been in seedy areas, off of the beaten path, but still in the city. Places where people didn’t see anything or hear anything, ever. The suburban home of Logan’s parents was in a nice area, far from seedy, but Josef needed to motivate the kid out of the basement and into the mansion. The kills had all been in fairly deserted areas of town, but who knew where the chases had begun? Besides, he had a great deal of security measures in place at the mansion, and Karl had already started amassing an arsenal of silver rounds for their already impressive collection of weapons. They should be safe.

While waiting for Mick and Beth to show up, Josef began to mull over the mystery that was Logan Griffen. The kid had been Turned back in the early eighties, the 1980’s. He had been a full-time student at a Community College at the time. He was studying computer science and mathematics, and still living at home in a basement apartment of his parents’ house. He was tremendously intelligent, even gifted. His future looked bright. His parents were so proud of their son. He was their only child, and they doted on him. Then he met the wrong girl at a campus party.

Josef shook his head and frowned at the memory of Logan’s accidental Sire. She was young, careless, and completely irresponsible. She had no business Siring anyone, and she hadn’t set out to do so that night. She had intended to simply seduce Logan out of a donation, but she was sloppy, and she took too much. Logan was dying. The girl had panicked, and not wanting Logan to die, she had Turned him instead, on impulse.

Then, like a teenager who got pregnant after a one-night stand, Logan’s Sire found herself saddled with the responsibility of a very confused, and very angry, new offspring. Logan had had no clue. He hadn’t known his “date” was a vampire. He hadn’t known what she had been doing to him, or what she had ultimately done to him. Logan was a great deal like Mick in that respect. He was horrified and furious when he had awakened to his new nature.

The next few days in Logan’s new life had been rough. His inexperienced Sire had continued to bungle the job, and poor Logan had nearly gone feral. As it was, he ended up accidentally killing his first meal, just like Mick had done. At least the irresponsible girl had called the Cleaner.

However, when the Cleaner had arrived and taken in the scene, she had gotten in the face of Logan’s sire while her crew was dealing with the clean-up. The Cleaner could see exactly what was going on, and she took a dim view of careless Siring. She had made it crystal clear to the girl that she had better get Logan under control and do right by him, or she would be held responsible for that failure. Message received.

Logan’s Sire had rented a room and gone into seclusion with him for several weeks. She had taught him the basics of survival as a vampire, to the extent of her own knowledge, which wasn’t much. While he didn’t know for sure, Josef had always suspected that Logan’s Sire had probably been Sired by someone as reckless and irresponsible as she was……vampires, just like humans, tend to parent the way they were parented themselves.

The Cleaner had let Josef know about Logan, and his situation, as soon as she became aware of it herself. Logan didn’t know it, but Josef had been keeping one eye on him ever since.

In the end, Josef had decided, it was Logan’s intelligence and strength of character that had allowed him to survive, and rise above, his careless Sire.
She had abandoned him altogether and left town when he was only a couple months into his new life, and his new nature. Logan’s parents had been frantically searching for their son all that time. Missing person reports were filed. Fliers were nailed to telephone polls. Grieving and desperate, his parents had nearly given up hope. Then Logan came home……..

The vampire community was aghast…..no one went back home! Disaster was expected……both parents probably…..maybe a couple of the neighbors. Josef had posted round-the-clock surveillance on the Griffen house. One of his employees, either human or vampire, was always close by, watching. And they had the Cleaners’ number on them at all times.

But nothing happened. The first night, a vamp courier brought a cooler of blood to the house. He looked confused, having never delivered to this address before, but then Logan emerged from his basement door and waved the guy over. Logan paid the fellow and disappeared back into his lair. Days went by, still nothing untoward happened. Logan’s parents came and went. A large chest freezer was delivered one night and carried downstairs to the basement through its side entrance by Logan and his father.

Then came the evening that was still laughed about at vampire gatherings to this day. A blood courier had brought a delivery to the Griffen household and had mistakenly gone to the front door instead of the basement’s separate entrance. Josef’s operative had watched in horror and had started to open the car door to warn the guy off, when Logan’s mother had opened the door. Too late…..Josef’s operative had quietly closed the car door and hoped for the best.

The vamp courier had frozen, like a deer in the headlights, when the door was opened by a middle-aged human woman. Was he at the wrong address? Had to be. He started to apologize and tried to step off the porch, but Logan’s mother had stopped him, gushing assurances that he was at the right address and thanking him for arriving so quickly. As the stunned vamp courier blinked at her, Mrs. Griffen explained that her son had “run out” and was getting “antsy”. She reached out and took the cooler from his hands, flipping the lid up and examining the iced contents. The courier didn’t know what to do, so he just stood there, staring at Logan’s mother and waiting. Satisfied, she had closed the lid and handed it to her husband, who had stepped up behind her in the doorway. Logan’s father quickly disappeared down a hallway carrying the cooler.

Mrs. Griffen had thanked the courier again and had paid cash for the cooler of human blood as casually as she might pay for a pizza delivery. She even gave the courier a generous tip! The bemused vamp had left, shaking his head in amazement.

Logan’s parents became a local legend that night in LA’s vampire community. Clearly, they knew, Logan had told them, and they didn’t care. He was their son and they loved him, no matter what. They were just happy he was home. After a while, Josef suspended the surveillance. It clearly wasn’t needed. Logan wasn’t going to hurt anyone, and his parents became well known among LA’s vamps as much appreciated humans-who-know.

As it turned out, Logan’s parents were more accepting of his new nature than Logan was of himself. Accidentally killing his first meal had traumatized him, just as it had Mick. Logan restricted himself to “store bought” blood, as Josef liked to call it, in containers. This turned out to be a choice Mick would eventually embrace himself. Not trusting himself around others, and terrified of what he was, Logan became something of a hermit. He rarely left his parents’ basement.

His parents continued to support him financially, just as they had when he was a full-time student. It made no difference to them….the money for his support was there, carefully set aside for his education over the years. It didn’t matter to them that Logan wasn’t a full-student anymore…..he was instead a full-time, agoraphobic vampire.

Logan wasn’t agoraphobic in the true sense of the term. An agoraphobic person lives in fear of what the outside world might do to them, and they hide from it as a result. Logan wasn’t afraid of what the outside world might do to him……he was afraid of what he might do to the outside world. But the end result was the same……he hid himself away.

Several months after returning home to his parents’ basement, there came another defining moment in Logan’s life.

Late one night, Logan’s mother was awakened by a soft sound in the master bedroom. Sitting up slightly and looking around, she saw a shadowy figure at the foot of the bed she shared with Logan’s father.

“Logan?”, she asked, confused.

In response, she saw a handgun come up. Only then did she notice that the male figure in dark clothing was also wearing a ski mask. Definitely not Logan. She froze for a moment.

“Quiet lady!”, the intruder said in a harsh whisper, still pointing the handgun a her, “The usual drill…..money, jewelry, and no noise.”

Beside her, Logan’s father began to stir and the gunman shifted his aim to him. Mrs Logan glanced at her husband and then back up at the intruder.

“Young man,” she said calmly, “you’ve broken into the wrong house.”

The intruder never heard Logan coming…..never saw him move…..all he was aware of was suddenly feeling like he had been hit by a car. Something plowed into him from behind with tremendous force, knocking the wind out of him, and shoving him forward. In an instant, he was across the room, being slammed face first into the bedroom wall. His nose broke and his own blood began to soak his ski mask. His wrist snapped as his gun was torn out of his hand and hurled away.

Dazed, not understanding what had just happened, the intruder realized someone was holding him against the wall. He tried to push back, to get away from the wall, to turn and fight, but it felt like he was being pinned there by a machine press. He couldn’t budge. Tears began to flow involuntarily as the pain of his broken nose and broken wrist washed over him. He was pretty sure several of his ribs were broken too. His head was swimming. He thought he might pass out.

Then he heard it…..a snarling right behind him. Something was growling at him! And it was close….really close! Whoever was pinning him to the wall must have the family dog beside him…..a really big dog. Some primal part of his mind told him it didn’t sound like a dog, that it sounded more like a big cat, a leopard, or something. Maybe these people had exotic pets? Fear swept through him. He stopped trying to struggle, freezing, hoping the dog, or whatever it was, wouldn’t bite if he held still.

What the intruder couldn’t see, due to being face-planted against the wall, was the silvery-white eyes boring holes in the back of his head. He also couldn’t see that the only really long, sharp fangs in the room didn’t belong to the family dog. There was no dog, no leopard either. He didn’t know that those silvery-white eyes kept flicking their gaze down to his neck over and over again.

Logan’s parents were watching from the bed. Finally, Mr Griffen slid out of bed and approached. He stood beside the intruder, who struggled to see the man through his bloody, askew, ski mask. “You really picked the wrong house kid.”, Logan’s father said sadly.

He glanced at his son, taking in the silvery eyes and fully extended fangs. He was still snarling softly. “Logan?” The silvery-white eyes shifted from the intruder’s neck to his father’s face. “Do we call the Police? Or…..someone else?”

Logan’s gaze moved back to the intruder’s neck for a moment, and then returned to his father’s face again. “Call the Police,” Logan rasped.

“Are you sure?”, his father asked, not wanting the Police to arrive if they were going to need a ‘clean-up’ instead.

Logan hesitated for a few seconds, then, “Yes….I’m sure….the Police.”

“OK”, Mr Griffen said, and turning his attention back to the pinned intruder, he added, “It’s your lucky day, kid.” He turned and nodded to his wife, who picked up the phone and made the call.

MLMLMLMLML*********************************************

Melinda was half way through her shift as a Night Shift Police Dispatcher, and had just finished one call, when she overheard another Dispatcher sending a Unit to respond to a home-invasion call. She was only half listening when she caught the address being given to the patrol car. The Griffen home? The Logan Griffen home?! She turned and focused her keen vampire senses on the call being handled across the room. Yeah….that was THE Griffen home. Oh gosh…..a home invasion! The homeowners were “holding” the intruder for Police?! The potential for mayhem was off the charts…..and a Unit was already in route!

Melinda stood with the fluid grace common to her kind and announced she was taking a break. She hurried out of the room, garnering admiring glances from male co-workers as she passed by them. She was aware they enjoyed watching her move, and were attracted to her. She could smell their mild arousal and hear their heartbeats quicken. Like all vampires, even when she wasn’t trying to enthrall anyone, her baseline, or resting level, of pheromones made her attractive to everyone in the room. And it didn’t hurt that she was a “looker”, as men called it, even when she had still been human. A petite and shapely redhead with fair skin and classic features. Free meals were easy for Melinda, but she never indulged in a co-worker. Much too risky.

As soon as she was alone in the breakroom, she called the Cleaners, letting them know about the dispatch, and that a Unit was already on its way. After hanging up, Melinda fretted, pacing. She was terribly worried….but the situation was out of her hands. All she could do now was wait and hope.

MLMLMLLML************************************************

By the time the Police arrived, Logan had managed to compose himself, in spite of the intruder’s blood still oozing from his broken nose, soaking his ski mask and shirt, smearing all over the wall in front of him. Between the scent of the man’s blood filling the room, and the scent of his fear, Logan had to really struggle to pull himself together, but he did it. His eyes had returned to their normal deep brown, and his fangs had retracted. He was still holding the bleeding intruder firmly pinned against the wall.

Logan’s mother had let the Police into the house. The Officers came along side and took hold of the man. Only then did Logan release him and step back.

The intruder yelped in pain as they cuffed him, complaining bitterly about his broken wrist. The Police couldn’t have cared less about his injuries. Quite the opposite. One of the Officers glanced at the damage done to the intruder, and then looked admiringly at Logan. “Great job kid!”, he said, “You take self-defense classes?”

“Something like that….”, Logan answered quietly. The Officer clapped Logan on the back as they pulled the intruder out of the room and then out to the patrol car, where he was secured in the back seat. The intruder’s weapon was collected, photos of the scene were shot, and statements were taken quickly. Slam-dunk case.

From a parked van across the street, and a few houses down, a Cleaning crew was watching. They could see the intruder was very much alive. Although bloodied and battered, the man had not been bitten. Amazing. The Police Officers’ scents were of a business-as-usual nature. They had clearly found nothing that raised any questions in their minds. From the scent of the intruder’s blood, the Cleaners could tell he hadn’t seen anything that caused the V-word to come up in his mind. As far as the intruder was concerned, he had just gotten the shit kicked out of him by a college kid who was a lot stronger than he looked.

The Cleaning crew watched the Police drive away with the very fortunate home-invader. They all exchanged glances, smiling and shaking their heads. For so young a vampire to demonstrate so much self-control when his territory had been violated and his loved ones menaced? Remarkable.

Without a word, two of the Cleaners picked up a few supplies and exited the van, sauntering across the street towards the Griffen home. Because neighbors were peeking through curtains all up and down the street, these two Cleaners wore ordinary street clothes, wanting to appear as friends who had come to offer comfort following a traumatic event. Their knock was answered promptly by Logan’s father, and after a few words, he stepped aside to usher them inside.

Logan’s parents got the blood smeared wall of their master bedroom expertly cleaned and returned to pristine condition….. No charge.

Josef was notified of that night’s events and was further impressed with Logan. He decided the kid needed, and deserved, a mentor, a Surrogate-Sire of sorts. He called Mick, who at first, wanted nothing to do with fostering any young vamp. He hated being a vamp! How could he be a Foster-Sire to anyone?! Exactly the point, Josef had assured him. Once he explained how much Mick and Logan had in common, Mick felt sympathy for the young fellow and decided he wanted to help. He wanted to be a kindred spirit that Logan could talk to, and turn to, when he needed advice, or just someone to listen, someone who knew, really knew, what he was going through. Mick had gone over to introduce himself to Logan and his parents shortly thereafter. They had been friends ever since.

The years rolled by and Logan remained firmly nested in his parents’ basement. He kept pace with the rapidly evolving world of home computers, and the internet, entirely self-taught. Josef quietly sent business Logan’s way, both humans and vampires who needed their computers fixed, or needed something “hacked”. To the humans, Logan was a geeky kid who worked out of his parents’ basement, and loved Star Wars and video games. To the vampires, Logan was a geeky kid who worked out of his parents’ basement, and loved Star Wars and video games….and only drank blood from glasses…..from a straw, no less.

Logan started earning a pretty good living with his little computer cottage-industry. Other than buying blood, computer components, and games, he needed nothing. So the money he earned went to his parents. They were aging, of course, and Logan knew he would not always have them with him. He wanted to thank them for standing by him, and he wanted them to be happy. He sent them on frequent luxury vacations, cruises and such. They always had a wonderful time, and sent him postcards from far flung destinations.

The years turned into decades. The 1980s gave way to the ‘90s, and then to the decade of 2000. Logan’s parents were elderly now. They had stopped introducing him to human friends and neighbors as their son years ago, and had started introducing him as their “grandson”, Logan Griffen Jr. Between their own retirement investments, and the income that Logan’s computer business garnered, they wanted for nothing.

MLMLMLML***********************************************

Josef was startled out of his reverie by the arrival of Mick and Beth in his office. Beth was glaring at him…..he grinned. Mick must have told her what he had said earlier on the phone.

Josef stood, old habit when a lady enters the room. He smiled and gestured for them to take the seats in front of his desk. Beth continued to glare at him. He met her eyes and grinned at her mischievously. She blushed, her face going bright red, and dropped her eyes, embarrassed by what Josef obviously knew.

Josef starred for a moment. Wow! He loved it when human women did that blushing thing! It was just so……attractive.

Mick’s rumbling growl of warning drew Josef’s attention off of Beth and over to his friend. “Sorry”, Josef said simply. Beth was still contemplating her feet.

“So,” Mick began, “What’s so outrageously important?”

Josef sighed. Back to the nasty reality at hand. “Have the two of you heard about the recent animal-attack deaths?’

Beth and Mick exchanged glances. “The dog-maulings?” Mick asked, confused. “Just what I’ve seen in the news.”

Josef shifted his attention back to Beth. “How about you, Beth? What does the DA’s Office think?”

Beth blinked at him. “Well, Talbot doesn’t know much, neither do the Police, so there’s no case for the DA to pursue at this point. The Police are keeping an awful lot from the public because they don’t want to start a panic, but the suspicion right now is that it’s some freak with a pack of dogs that he sets on people for kicks. Talbot says there’s no case until an arrest is made, so he’s focusing on other things right now. Why? What do you know?” Beth eyed Josef, still mildly pissed at him.

Josef leaned back in his chair, his eyes moving from Mick, to Beth, and back again. “These deaths aren’t ‘maulings’, and it’s not a dog.” He said simply. “The victims weren’t human…..they were all vampires.”

Both Mick and Beth blinked at Josef in silence for several seconds. Then Beth’s blue eyes widened and her hand went to her mouth, covering a startled gasp. “Oh my gosh!”, she breathed, “It’s a werewolf, isn’t it?! A rogue?”

Mick sputtered and turned to look at Beth, but stopped at the expression on her face…….She was completely serious and had the look of someone who had just had an epiphany, suddenly realizing something very important, and kicking herself for not seeing it sooner. She looked frightened and completely horrified.

Mick turned to look at Josef for an explanation and found the elder vamp starring at Beth again, only this time with a look of amazement and confusion on his face.

“Beth.” Josef said quietly, “How do you know that?”

“You mean she’s right!?”, Mick shouted, his jaw dropping.

“Beth….how do you know that?”, Josef repeated.

Beth lowered her hand from her mouth. “Because of my grandpa.”, she answered simply.

“Your grandpa?” , Josef prompted, still mystified. This little blonde woman kept surprising him, and when you’re over 400 years old, you’re tough to surprise.

“Yes.” , Beth answered, “My grandpa used to tell me stories when I was little…..stories about the things he did when he was young.”

“What kind of things?”, Josef prompted again.

Mick was just staring at Beth, as though seeing her for the first time. What was going on?

“Grandpa was a hunter…..a werewolf hunter.”, Beth answered.

Both Mick and Josef spoke in startled unison. “WHAT!!!?

This chapter is amazing!!!

Your speculations regarding Logal feel very right, to me. If we had seen a Season 2, I would not have been at all surprised if things would have played out much as you propose. Only one detail is different. Logan once berated Mick for not having introduced him to Josef Kostan 'the richest vampire in L.A.' and Mick explained that Logan 'never left his basement' Still, as head of the local vampire community, Josef would have been aware of Logan, and a vampire as clearly talented as the computer specialist was bound to find their way onto his radar screen.

Now Beth being descended from warewolf hunters is major!!!

Thanks!

Jenna

Thanks Jen!
And....Yes! Exactly! :clapping: Those two comments you pointed out from the aired 'Logan's basement' scene actually inspired my take on Logan's possible backstory. Clearly, he "never left his basement" (made me speculate as to why), "the milkman delivers", container blood was evident....ie, no freshies about.... and he wanted to meet the "richest vampire in LA" (Josef). But, since Josef is clearly the Leader of the LA Tribe, he would have known about Logan.....just made scense. Josef knows about just about everything. And with Rider in South America......Josef would have needed to recuit Logan for full time work eventually. :twothumbs:

And yeah.....Beth has the blood of werewolf-slayers flowing thru her veins! :gasp: :thud:

Just reread this chapter and there is so much to love here!

First, there was the mention of an event where Mick was almost killed by a group from the Legion. Is there another fic covering those events?? I really would love to read about that.

Logan, like Mick, is one of those 'when life hands you lemons, make lemonaide' types--although color of that lemonaid is definitely red. In the final analysis, they choose to use their abilities to make the world a better place. Good.

Josef is good at his job of keeping them safe, and in a way the humans in L.A., too, as they would be even more vulnerable in conflict.

Logans parents are typical of a large percentage of the population, who are much more accepting than they are given credit for. They...adapt to enormous changes and their world stays much the same and it makes how well Logan came through his transition clearer.

He is who he is because they are who they are.

Yes, this is definitely a nice fic to revisit!!

Thank you

Jenna

The first wonderful detail I noticed in this chapter was that there are vampires older than Josef that live in L.A.--who prefer to live quietly, shunning the limelight, as it were.

Now that is interesting.

History professors who lived through the events that they describe to their classes; museum curators who have a special affinity for dealing with antiqities because they were possibly around when they were buried; archeologists who are very talented at digging up buried artifacts because they were there when they were buried; and the list just goes on from there.

Each one of these could be a fabulous story!

Your description of Logan is wonderful. You are turning him into a hero here!

And that detail of Josef calling the shots in the background and protecting Logan by bringing him to the mansion in the guise of protecting Logan's parents.

Fabulous!

Thanks!

Jenna

I totally love this story for what you gave us on Logan's backstory. I liked the kid before, now I'm in awe. And Beth's grandfather hunted werewolfs? Kind of like the war stories my grandfather told? Or was that real? Can't wait to read more!

Thanks Jen and Francis! :ghug: :hearts: :flowers:
And, Jen, yes......the mention of Mick having been nearly killed in a previous Legion attack is referrenced from Desdemona's wonderful FanFic, "Silver". I gave her props in my Disclaimers as Following-On from her FanFic. "Silver" is a must-read!
And Francis, yes....I just had to give Logan a backstory! :snicker: He's such an adorable Character....so funny and sweet. I wanted to explain the things we saw in his basement, which he "never leaves". I also wanted to show the vamp strength, and dangerousness, that we know Logan has in him, but only got a glimpse of when he zipped after the Police Van carrying Emma.
Thanks to both of you for all your Feedbacks!
