I do not own any recognizable characters from Moonlight or Back To the Future.

Mick and Doc arrived back in 1952. As frustrating as it was he had to hide the Delorean on the Brown property and head into LA in a “normal” car. Unfortunately they were stuck in a terrible traffic jam.

“I don’t believe it.! Mick complained. “We’ll never get there in time.”

“Mick, relax. Your younger self will distract Coraline. It will happen like it did the first time.

Mick sighed. “There is something really familiar about this. We were almost late for the gig because of some idiot in a blue car. Mick realized the car he saw thirty three years ago was the car Coraline described to him an hour ago.

“What did he do?” Emmett asked.

“He was driving at like ten miles an hour. Picture an 80 year old who just got his license but this guy was young he was….. Mick gasped. “This is the same street. Mick stuck his head out the window. “I’m two cars behind myself and the blue car is in front.

Emmett turned white as a sheet. “Whatever you do you can’t see yourself. Stay on this road until 1952 Mick turns off.

Mick shook his head. “I couldn’t stand that car and he kept weaving in the road so there was no way to pass him. Finally when the light went yellow I floored the engine and got around him. I didn’t want to be late for the gig. He stopped talking as he heard a car engine roar and he saw his young stupid self go through the yellow light a millisecond before it turned red.

What happened next was like out of a movie. The blue car went through the red light and was hit by a black Ford going just a little too fast. The Ford couldn’t stop until the blue car was pinned against a tree. The driver of the Ford leaped out of the passenger side. He was a chunky little man who you wouldn’t think would leap anywhere particularly with blood running down his face and glass shards stuck in his head. He walked over to the other car and instead of looking in to see if anyone was alive he sniffed first. Then he peeked in the car and a look of horror came over his face. He ran away at vampire speed. Mick got a good look at him first though the vampire that took off was Logan Griffin.

Mick said to Emmett. “You stay here act like you’re the driver. If the police ask just tell them this guy ran a red light. He took off in the direction Logan ran. Three blocks later he saw him in a phonebooth. Logan was speaking below human hearing. Mick stood outside the booth.

“Listen I need a cleanup immediately at Figueroa and Pine. I hit a car with a vampire in it. His head is almost sliced off from the windshield but he’s not dead yet. The bigger problem is he has a dead child with him approximately three years old. The girl has been dead for at least an hour and he fed from her. I presume he was going to dispose of her body. You can’t let the police or ambulance get there first. I’m going to lay low in my mother’s basement until I’m sure it’s safe. Logan hung up the phone and opened the booth he sniffed at Mick and said.

“Is there a problem, Friend?” .

Mick smiled “No. I’m a private eye. The Cleaners have been trying to track him down for a while, child killers bring bad publicity. It was a lucky break.

Logan shook his head. “Lucky? Either I’ll have to relocate because LAPD will arrive on the scene or I’ll have to spend the next century hiding out from his sire. People who kill babies always have powerful protectors.”

“The Cleaners will finish the job….they’ll give you anonymity .” Mick said.

Logan sighed. “The accident was my fault. My sire told me cars were dangerous. I just....couldn't resist."

“He ran a red light.”

“I was speeding. Logan said. “How old are you?”

“Thirty.” Mick said truthfully.

“Then you’re not old enough to know how ruthless vampires can be. My whole line was wiped out because my sire killed the wrong vampire. My sire was in the right, the creep violated his dinner but I saw twenty-seven vampires tortured to death by a six hundred year old sadist. I was left because I was the youngest to tell the tale. I may never leave my house again. Good luck Kid, the first century is the hardest. And with that Logan took off.

Mick went back to the accident site and saw that the Cleaners had secured the area and the only real cops were on vampire payroll. This accident report would disappear.

Mick got back in the car with Emmett.

Emmett said. “It’s very strange. The police didn’t want a statement just my name and address in case they had questions later.”

Mick said. “I’m not surprised. I think I fixed the time line.”

“What do you mean?” Emmett asked. “What about that child killer?”

Mick nodded towards the car. “That was him. He had the body of a dead girl in there with him.”

“Turned?” Emmett asked.

“No, just dead. He killed her and was going to dump the body in the La Brea Tar Pits.

“How do you know that?”

“It’s nearby.” Mick said sadly. Let’s just go back to 1985, I’m stuck with the hand I was dealt.

They drove back to the Delorean and when they arrived in 1985 everything was as Mick had left it the first time. In his office he saw the file on Beth Turner, she was safe with her mother. Coraline was dead. Josef was trying to coax him back into the land of the living.

He promised Emmett he’d tell his “nephew” Josef that the time machine didn’t work and agreed to keep in touch.

Emmett was going to destroy the machine but he was worried about his cousin. He was going to take one more trip…..Back To The Future to see if Mick ever found the happiness he deserved.

I'm glad that the bad vamp has been taken care of.

Mick may have to go back to live out the hand he was dealt, but hopefully this experience has shown him that things can always be worse.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Mick's future holds! :hearts:

Thanks, Carol! :flowers:

Jen - I love Logan and while I don't usually make him "old" it worked for this story.

MLC - Mick is learning the hard way

Marigold - I liked that it was human Mick's impatience that started the bad guy and Logan took care of a serious problem. I look forward to Mick's future too.

Mick was lucky that the killer was done with. Logan was a big surprise. I would never have thought he had so much history.

Whoa... Mick has learned a whole lot of valuable lessons in this story! I love your take on Logan's past... no wonder he stays underground most of the time. But I'm awfully glad he hit the bad vampire with his car... and that Mick helped cover things up for him.

I wonder what Emmett will think of Future Mick? :chin:

I love this story, it's got so many twists! :dizzy: Mick never knew about the accident that killed the child predator until he went back to fix the time stream. :gasp: And I absolutely love this version of Logan. :hearts: Mick's finally understanding that he needs to live the life he's got. (Thank goodness!) :phew:
