Author's note: Blame Lucky. She wrote this amazing drabble about Mick's thoughts at the end of Sonata... http://www.moonlightaholics.com/viewtop ... 149&t=9616 And that one made me think that Beth needed to have a say, too...
This is about us, and how we feel about one another – right here, right now.
Oh, Mick… this is what I’ve wanted, what I’ve dreamed of. But after all that’s happened, I really don’t know if I can do this… not unless I know you really care.
How we feel about one another? What do you feel? Half the time you’re keeping secrets, and the other half you’re impatient with me for making ignorant mistakes. And that “vampire business,” how’s that gonna work?
But you’re here… you’ve always been here for me…
You said I was right all along. But how do I know it’s right?
Wait… what was it that Emma said about Jackson…?
The night that we first met – or met again, whatever – what was I wearing?

Alle
This is lovely!
The insecurity, the longing, the fear and the hope are all captured here in these few words.
Thank you!

Yeah, yeah...blame me.
Great drabble, Alle. She's just not sure whether to smack him, or kiss him. Or both.
Which only goes to show that vamp or not, Mick is still a...guy.

Lovely, Alle! Thank you for telling us what Beth was thinking during this scene.
It is natural, and completely understandable, that Beth has a few qualms about entering into a romantic relationship with Mick. Luckily, he convinces her that it could work, and that he does love her.
Thank you!

I think he convinces himself, too. Not that he loves her, but that even imperfection together is vastly better than being apart. And imperfection is the best they'll ever be able to do... but they'll find a way to make it beautiful, because that's what lovers do in this imperfect world. (I guess I'm feeling kinda romantic today, on Valentine's Day!)
Thanks, everyone, for your wonderful comments.

I love this. It wasn't an easy time for Beth, within a few minutes her world has been turned around and then turned around again. But she found a way to reassure herself that this was really worth it. Love how you capture that in a few words only.
