Drabble: No Such Thing As Vampires - Mick-Beth, PG

Author's note: A drabble about Mick's reaction to meeting Beth. Or meeting her again, whatever. Rated PG.

“There’s no such thing as vampires.”

“I don’t think the girl in the fountain would agree.”

And that’s my cue to fade out before she can turn around and ask me another question.

She’s trouble, with her determination and her iPhone and her ambition to be the next Christiane Amanpour.

What the hell am I gonna do about her? Josef will be furious. He’ll probably insist I silence her somehow… maybe kill her.

When he figures out who she is, he is really gonna have my hide.

Ah, I don’t care. For the first time in years, I feel alive.

One of my favorite ML moments. That look Mick's wearing when he's watching her, when he's talking to her...it's written all over him what she is to him. :cloud9:

What a lovely glimpse at the beginning of it all. In retrospect Mick will realize how important this was. For now, he's intrigued, a bit apprehensive, and worried about Josef's reaction, but mainly he feels alive - and isn't that something everyone can relate to?

Fabulous.

By this time, Mick is already twenty two years in--in to reclaiming his identity; reinventing himself as the hero of the story instead of the villain; and as being the protector of innocents.

Sigh.

If Beth Turner had turned out to be ugly with thick glasses and no fashion sense, I think he would have loved her anyway. The fact that she was gorgeous, smart and funny was just icing on the cake.

Wonderful drabble!

Thank you!

Jenna

What a perfect description of the fountain moment. I love the I don't care line especially . . . that really says it all. Mick's taken the leap here, whatever the consequences. He's so ready to take the risk and change his life. There must have been lots of other times when he could have stepped forward and let Beth see him . . . but this was the moment. :hearts:

Alle

This was so lovely.

Your words have perfectly encapsulated the scene we saw on screen

This was the moment it all began.
